You meet.
There's a very good chance you will stay up late.
And you won't be able to wait
To talk about life and small bits of nothing
Talk about movies and songs and of hoping
Everything new and exciting and meaningful.
Each second.
There's a very good chance you'll count every instant.
And the world will seem distant
Because all that will matter is the there and the then
The living and moments and dreaming of when
the laughter kept falling again and again
You'll know.
There's a very good chance you'll know who you are.
And you'll think
My god this is it!
I've found my life and my friends,
my happiness, my beginnings and ends
Here it is.
All I need
All I need to dream.
Bigger and father and better and more,
Faster and deeper and knowing I'll soar
Higher and finer than all of the rest
This my life
This is the best.
I am the best.
But what happens in the middle years?
Those years when everyone's waiting,
waiting and waiting and waiting some more
wanting and tired and not really sure
Trying and striving and dying
to become
Just become.
But what happens in the middle years?
Those years when everything's normal
normal and dull and day after day
ins and outs and going your way
Settled and boring and without
that spark.
That long lost spark.
These are the middle years.
You can hope to get through them,
dream of the end.
The day when you'll wake up and something will click
life will get back to that boom and that kick
that happiness and excitement and...
There's a very good chance you won't miss the middle years.
But there's a very good chance these are the days
The make or break, the strengthen your ways
Without them, you'd only be dreaming
These are they days you find out the meaning
of life
of love
of who you are
of wanting and hoping and needing more
of learning whether you really can
you really can soar.
These are the middle years.
